I can honestly say this is the best cafe in St Albans. The food is such good portions and tastes unbelievable. What seems like a family run business and they’re all really kind. Goes under the radar as it’s not on the main high street but definitely worth the visit

Polite and friendly staff. The environment is always clean. The owner is a great guy. He makes the best Shawarma and Wraps at the moment.

If you are looking for the perfect spot in St Albans to do some remote work and have a great lunch (like I was looking for earlier today), I highly recommend CAFE 159. The food is excellent - tasty and beautifully presented. I enjoyed it so much - I ordered a meal to eat in (with a great cup of tea) and grabbed two more for takeaway. The service is fantastic, and the owner is great to chat with. Don’t pass this place by if you are in the area! Thank you for the great experience!

popped in as we were in the area and alll i can say is i wish i lived in st albans i had the cheese Chicken, and bacon and Panini WOW I have never had a Panini like it. It wasn’t standard Panini pressed type Panini. It was a big fluffy buttery tasting Panin I’ve never seen one like that before. The filling was absolutely divine. The cheese had been slightly grilled before putting into the sandwich and the chicken filling was morish The staff are really nice and it’s lovely and clean as well. I’ll definitely be popping in if we are in the area And will try a steak or chicken a scallop ciabatta Next

Visited Jan2026 at a weekend. A small cafe serving high quality cafe food, presented elegantly, well-cooked. The menu ranges from full English breakfasts to eggs benedict (three options), eggs on toast with avocado, halloumi or spinach, jacket spuds, gourmet burgers, grilled meats, panini, sandwiches, baguettes and baked goods. All in a Mediterrean style. Coffee is strong; the cappuccino is properly balanced and textured. Location is close to the City railway station, ideal for morning commuters, but just off the beaten-track, so quieter from weekend mid-mornings. Also has an outdoor bar-seating area, facing the street, six seats, so ideally situated for summertime people watching over a double espresso. Indoors, the cafe seats ~30-40 heads.

Really impressed. Have been meaning to go to this place but haven't had a chance. Went for the first time today. The food was absolutely beautiful, really big portion, all cooked so well and very reasonably priced. Staff were very nice and I will definitely be back, probably tomorrow ha ha.

We were a big group or 9 people + 1 dog, carrying lots of suitcases and bags. The staff was extremely nice and accommodating, even when my brother changed his mind about his order. Portions were generous and food was tasty. Highly recommend it.
